Before the main draw at Flushing Meadows, Draper partnered with Jessica Pegula in the reformed US Open mixed doubles event. They achieved victories against Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz, as well as Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva, before being defeated by Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, who eventually became runners-up.
Draper's absence at Melbourne Park significantly reduces British representation in the men's draw. Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley, and qualifier Arthur Fery will be carrying the flag for Britain.
Norrie is coming off a strong end to 2025 and is seeded 26th for the first Grand Slam of the year. He secured a victory against Alcaraz in the second round of the Paris Masters before ending his year with a final defeat at the Moselle Open by Learner Tien.
