A home in Langley, British Columbia, was the target of a shooting incident on Thursday morning, and police believe it is connected to extortion. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Langley received a call at around 5:17 a.m. regarding shots fired in the 6900 block of 232 Street. Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP stated that based on initial information, the incident is believed to be related to extortion, and investigators are working to determine any possible connections to other cases.
The shooting occurred at one of two houses on the targeted property, and interestingly, one of these houses is owned by the same family as the trucking company, Chohan Freight Forwarders. This company is currently involved in a lawsuit with the B.C. government after its drivers were responsible for multiple overpass or bridge strikes in the Lower Mainland. It is not yet clear if the company was specifically targeted or if there is a motive for the shooting.
Sgt. Sharoom also mentioned that the suspects arrived in a dark-colored sedan and fled the scene immediately. There were no reported injuries, which is fortunate. However, the fact that this incident is believed to be related to extortion raises concerns. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and provide file number 2026-722.
This incident is not an isolated case, as just the day before, on January 7, shots were fired at a home in Delta in what is believed to be an extortion-related shooting. The police are investigating both incidents to gather more information and bring the perpetrators to justice. This situation highlights the importance of public safety and the need for vigilance in addressing criminal activities, especially those involving extortion and violence.
